Located to the north of Sligo town on the west coast of Ireland, this gently sloping infill site commands stretching views towards Knocknarea & the cairn of Queen Maeve.
Split into two pitched roof volumes with a glazed entrance link and flanked by low masonry walls, the new dwelling responds to its rural setting by evoking the character of a small agglomeration of farm buildings.
The front block, constructed in local stone, will accommodate the main kitchen and living space, embracing the south westerly views. The low pitched roof will overhang an intimate corner window seat, while large format sliding doors grant access a raised terrace overlooking the new meadow garden. To the rear, a two storey pitched roof volume will accommodate the bedrooms, a snug room and main utility spaces.
The project has received planning permission and is progressing through Stage 04 'Technical Design’, with construction scheduled for 2024.
