Arts & Crafts House, Hampshire
Refurbishment & Extension
Planning
Designed by Henry L.G Hill in 1900, this prominent Arts and Crafts home features in Sir Nickolaus Pevsners’s Architectural Guide: The Buildings of England.

Previously divided into two dwellings and much altered over the course of the last 100 years, the Clients of this period home wished to improve the spatial fluidity of the plan and better connect the main living spaces with the garden.

A small single storey extension is proposed to the rear, its contemporary style informed by and sitting comfortably alongside the originalArts and Crafts detailing of the dwelling. Large-format sliding glazing will improve the indoor-outdoor connection and grant access to an enlarged west-facing terrace. A new perennial bed will soften the transition from terrace to mature garden and flank the pathway to a secluded seating area around the original stone well.

The project is currently progressing through the early design stages, with construction planned for 2024. Keep an eye on our ‘journal’ for updates.
